Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are not officially divorced yet, but Brad could still marry his girlfriend, Ines de Ramon.
Their relationship started in November 2022, and they were seen together at F1’s British Grand Prix on July 7.
Although Brad and Angelina were declared legally single in 2019, their divorce is still not final.
Divorce attorney Kara Chrobak explained that being legally single since 2019 allows Brad and Angelina to consider themselves separate and not married.
This means Brad can marry Ines if he wants to, even though the divorce isn’t finished.
Brad and Ines are not in a hurry with their relationship, according to sources. They feel very serious about each other but don’t feel the need to rush into an engagement or marriage to prove it.
Brad and Angelina’s choice to become legally single is a common step that allows people to remarry while their divorce is ongoing.
Certified financial planner Shinobu Hindert mentioned that being legally single gives personal independence and allows starting new relationships without the complications of still being technically married.
Brad and Angelina aren’t the only celebrities using this legal tactic. For example, Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan also became legally single in 2019.
Dewan filed for divorce in October 2018 and announced she was expecting a child with her new boyfriend, Steve Kazee, shortly after becoming legally single.
Dewan and Kazee are now engaged and have two children together.
Dewan and Tatum share a daughter named Everly.
Their divorce is still not finalized because they are stuck on financial issues related to Tatum’s “Magic Mike” earnings.
Dewan wants a share of the profits from the film franchise, while Tatum disagrees.
California divorce attorney Christopher C. Melcher explained that divorce proceedings can take years to resolve all issues.
Some people don’t want to wait that long if they have met someone new and want to remarry.
The law allows them to become legally single before resolving other issues, so they aren’t trapped in a marriage for years.

Kelly Clarkson asked a judge to declare her legally single in 2021 because she and her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock, deserved to build new lives.
Clarkson and Blackstock’s divorce included disputes over their prenuptial agreement and financial issues. Clarkson agreed to pay Blackstock spousal and child support, and their divorce was finalized in March 2022.
