Season 3 of Sweet Magnolias was full of drama, even for the little town of Serenity. But, the last episode didn’t have a big cliffhanger, which made some fans worried that it might be the end for Helen, Dana Sue, and Maddie.
Don’t worry! The story isn’t over yet – Netflix has confirmed there will be a Season 4. Here’s what we know so far about the new season.
Release Window for Sweet Magnolias Season 4
In October, Netflix announced that Sweet Magnolias would have a fourth season, but they didn’t give a release date. We can look at how long it took between past seasons to guess when Season 4 might come out.
Based on past schedules, we think Sweet Magnolias Season 4 could be on Netflix by winter 2024. After the end of Gilmore Girls, it’s nice to have a new show with a cozy, close-knit community vibe for the cold season. But, let’s get back to Serenity and see who’s coming back for Season 4.
Returning Cast for Sweet Magnolias Season 4
First, JoAnna Garcia Swisher, Brooke Elliott, and Heather Headley will be back as Maddie, Dana Sue, and Helen. A visit to Serenity wouldn’t be the same without them! They have become close friends during filming, so it’s hard to imagine any of them leaving the show.
Harlan Drum, who plays CeCe, will likely have a bigger role now that CeCe is living with Helen. This is great news for fans. The small cliffhanger last season was about Noreen and Isaac needing to talk, so we can expect to see Jamie Lynn Spears and Chris Medlin return.
The Townsend family is also coming back: Chris Klein, Carson Rowland, Logan Allen, and Ella Grace Helton will reprise their roles as Bill, Ty, Kyle, and Katie. Brandon Quinn and Anneliese Judge will return as Ronnie and Annie Sullivan.
Of course, Justin Bruening and Dion Johnstone will be back as Cal and Erik.

Can’t Wait for Season 4? Try the Sweet Magnolias Books
Sweet Magnolias is based on the book series by Sheryl Woods – not to be mixed up with Sheryl J. Anderson, the showrunner. The show is a bit different from the books. The main characters are still Helen, Maddie, and Dana Sue, but some storylines are unique to the show.
The first book, “Stealing Home,” came out in 2007. The show is more modern, so keep that in mind if you decide to read the books. They are highly recommended and affordable. “Stealing Home” is only $2!
